Exhibition proves to be another success

11:53am Monday 22nd September 2008

FOR hundreds of jobseekers Colchester Town Hall was the place to be last week as the Gazette held its popular Jobs, Careers and Training Exhibition.

And the turnout was astounding with more than 800 people walking through the door.

Ginette May, the Gazette’s recruitment manager, said: “We had 50 people in the first 15 minutes, and at one point you couldn’t get down the aisles it was so busy.”

The event brought some of Essex’s leading employers, recruitment agencies, along with education and training providers, all under one roof.

Exhibitors included sponsors of the event Thera East Anglia, as well as the Army, Pitman Training, Anglia Ruskin University, TBG Learning, The Master Tiling School, CV’s That Open Doors, Careforce, Words Worth Reading, Autism Anglia, BCT Consortium to name a few.

Ginette added: “All the exhibitors are really pleased and the quality of the responses we have had has been great.

“Sponsors of the exhibition, Thera East Anglia, dealt with 100 people at the event, which was more than last year, and it will take on about ten of those people.

“One recruitment agency – Berry Recruitment – signed up as many as 200 jobseekers looking for the perfect job, while Family Mosaic ran out of the 60 job descriptions it had and needed to visit its local office to photocopy some more.”

On the day the Gazette’s CV database team also uploaded plenty of CVs to the database.
