JOBHUNTERS unsure of which career path to follow may be tempted to trust in lady luck by writing away to as many different companies as possible, and hoping at least one interview will turn into their dream job.
But instead of leaving future prospects to chance, there is a way to get a sneak preview of whether a company is likely to be suitable for you – at a careers fair.
The Gazette is holding its Jobs, Careers and Training Exhibition, at Colchester Town Hall, between 11am and 7pm, today.
The exhibition will be full of companies who can help jobseekers in their quest to finding the career they desire.
Once again, the Thera Group is sponsoring the Gazette Jobs, Careers and Training Exhibition.
The Thera group was established in 1998 as an organisation wholly controlled by people with learning disabilities. The organisation now supports more than 650 people with a learning disability, employing more than 1,250 staff in 13 local authority areas.
As well as being able to see the Thera Group team, visitors will be able to get advice on full, part-time and further education courses.
Anglia Ruskin University, TBG Learning, BCT Consortium, Master Tiling School, JHP Training, Catten College and Pitman Training will be offering advice on education and training.
Companies attending the exhibition include Family Mosaic, Words Worth Reading, Oaktree Care Group, Autism Anglia, Safehouses, Job Centre Plus, Army, Careforce and Avon Cosmetics.
There will also be a number of recruitment agencies on hand too, including Just Recruitment, Social Care Professionals, SVC Recruitment, Berry Recruitment, ENS Recruitment and Essex Social Care Professionals.
The Gazette’s CV surgery will again be open, where the recruitment team will be showing job-seekers how to upload their CV on to its new and improved CV Database.
An area not to be missed is the Job Zone, where all the latest jobs will be posted. Do check it out.
Entry to the Gazette Jobs, Careers and Training Exhibition is free. The Gazette team will be handing out promotional bags at the door to the first 700 people. This year they contain an eight-page exhibition guide, Avon samples, pads, pens and many other goodies.
So, head to the Gazette Jobs, Careers and Training Exhibition today.
